Hygiene Passport Test

The Hygiene Passport is required for many jobs in the food sector that involve handling unpackaged, easily perishable foods. Passing the Hygiene Passport test demonstrates that employees have a basic knowledge of food hygiene.

Learning outcomes

Food hygiene competence is assessed in the following areas:

  • microbiology
  • food poisoning
  • hygienic working practices
  • personal hygiene
  • cleaning and sanitation
  • own-check activities ("omavalvonta")
  • legislation

The Hygiene Passport test is a paper-based multiple-choice test. You do not need to bring a computer. The questions have been prepared by the Finnish Food Authority. The test is supervised by an authorised Hygiene Passport examiner.
